Internet Explorer 6 won't open links

Expand Post »
For the past week or two, every time I click on a link, I get a clear window frame and the egg timer but that's all. The link won't open. I have Windows XP and have all the updates for IE 6. I am also running Pest Patrol and Norton Anti Virus 2003.What can I try?

Thanks (in advance) for your help

Re: Internet Explorer 6 won't open links

First up you can try a repair of IE by going to add/remove programs, select IE & you should get an option to repair.
If this doesn't fix it download & install Adaware, update it & in settings make sure to tick; scan within archives, deep scan registry & then in 'Tweak' tick automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion. Run the scan & place a check next to everything it finds & remove them. Download Spybot S & D, update & run it. Remove everything it finds. Within this program there is an option to 'immunise'. do this. There is also a link to spywareblaster, follow the link, download & install it, then update it. This program runs in the background to keep those little bugs out.

Re: Internet Explorer 6 won't open links

I have a similar but different problem, any help would be appreciated. I have SBC DSL/yahoo. When I use AOL with the dsl, the system works well, however when I am using the browser provided by Yahoo (internet exploarer 6 something I believe), it will start working correctly, the first or second order of links will work properly, after that, if I click on a deeper link, there will be no response. Other than that the browser works normally. This is a relatively new happening. It is especially bad because my antivirus updates seem to use that level of links and thus I have to get them manually. The AOL approach has no problem going to these links.

Thanks

Re: Internet Explorer 6 won't open links

arg,

Due to the confusion it causes, we ask that members not "piggyback" their question onto a previous poster's thread, but start one of their own instead (regardless of how similar your problem might seem to that in an existing thread).

Please start your own thread on your problem, and try to include as many specifics concerning the problem as possible when you do. I'll delete your post here once I see that you've gotten your own thread going.

Thanks.

jps609,

You haven't previously posted in this thread, and none of us have (unless I missed something) suggested deleting any registry keys. Are you sure you responded to the right thread?
