What should my internet connection be/how to speed it up?

Running IE V.6 SP2 on XP. My LAN connection is 10.0 Mbps. I have run Spybot, Norton, CWS,Ad-Aware,Spysweeper and at the moment show no problems. However, IE is still quite slow. So I am wondering if it has anything to do with the connection speed?

ok well, so now my speed is back. I can only presume that the server was slow as I found no major viruses etc.!?
i guess this post can be closed.
