can only open my documents after connecting to internet

Expand Post »
As bizarre as this sounds; I was unable to access My Documents/ my computer etc from desktop; ran Hijack This/ made corrections; no better

however, by chance, I discovered that after connecting to the internet
then, and only then, was I able to Access My Computer, my documents from the Desktop ( opening Explorer off line did not work)

I have verified this several times; SO I am NOT crazy

But what the heck is going on ????

very mystifying
