Missing Thumbnails

Hi peeps
when using explorer
although i have selected view thumbnails
it dosnt preview the image
i am using win xp
hope you can help

So ,what does it show instead of the image !

Edit: maybe your thumbnail caching is turned off ,look here on how to turn it on ,and check to see if yours is on or off ,

Hi there
thanks for that
had a look at thumbnail cashing is on or not clicked off
all i get when i look at a folder is an icon of the file type
not a thumbnail of the pic or file

Do you have Adobe Photoshop 7 or Elements installed they are known for causing this issue when you have generate thumbnails selected.

Don't know what to tell you ,I attached a picture of what My,mypictures folder looks like when i open it ,The plain yellow one is empty

Hi there
thatnks for everyone help
i am still suffering from not being able to see thumbnails
when i look at a folder view i can see a folder with the usual four images in it
i can get a thumbnail of an mpeg file
and word docs and excel files show the relivant icons
but i dont get thumbnail of a jpeg etc
also i have noticed that under view there is now an option for filmstrip

I found a registry fix ,to restore thumbnail views in XP ,but your seems to be working ,just not with some file types ,you could try running the fix ,I don't see what it would hurt,but then again this is Windows!!

I have never used this fix ,but have use many others from the same site this one comes from.Registry Edits

Hi there
Tried the fix
and still the same problem
have visited several sites with help advice to no joy
also i have notice that if i go to my computer/my documents/my pictures
when i ask for a slide show it just bleeps and does nothing without an error

Maybe some system files screwed up try this with you windows cd in the cdrom ,go to start/run and type in SFC /scannow. to repair system files .
Note there is a space between the SFC and /
