Explorer closing on specific sites: no error window.

Expand Post »
I'm having an extreme issue. I'm running a 1 month old Compaq notebook on XP w/ several windows issues. Certain windows are in the habit of randomly disappearing, but only those windows. Explorer (desktop and everything) appears to reset everytime, but only the newly opened offender is the closed one. (eg: logging in at yahoomail closes the window automatically... everytime)
please.... save me.
(another site which dies everytime is www.milkandcookies.com)

Re: Explorer closing on specific sites: no error window.

Try a virus scan: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Adaware: http://www.lavasoft.de
Spybot S&D: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Then report back. If your problem is not resolved then I reccomend you post a HiJackThis log in the security forum: http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html - This will give us an overview of all your running processes etc.

Re: Explorer closing on specific sites: no error window.

I tested for viruses using all the tools mentioned. Spybot and Adaware are habitual processes for me.
A trojan virus was found, but I have no software to remove it. Most people I know use Norton AntiVirus, which I cannot keep up with for financial reasons. Any software suggestions?

AVG is free, and is less of a resource hog than Norton.
