Win98SE will not boot normally... sometimes

Expand Post »
I have an Athlon machine with Win98SE on it. It was working fine till recently. However now, on booting it is sometimes giving a "Disk boot failure" message and sometimes it is booting normally. What could be the problem? Is my hardisk failing?

Re: Win98SE will not boot normally... sometimes

It's very likely that the hard drive is dying. I'd backup any important data immediately and then download a HD diagnostic utility from the HD manufacturer. Run that and see what it says.
