Win98 SE installer gives BSOD!!!

Expand Post »
I'm fixing up some old laptops to sell them on ebay (NEC VERSA 2650 CDT). I have done many already by deleating the primary dos partition and creating a new one, formatting drive C and then installing win98 SE. Well right after the reboot on one machine i keep getting a BSOD. I have tried the format reinstall over again and on two other hard drives also with the same result. What could this be from? Has anyone had similar expirence? The exact part it gets it at is when windows is detecting new hardware. Thanks, Chris

Have you disconnected all peripherals? I'd also find out what option resets the BIOS defaults on the system. It may not even hurt to consider updating the BIOS revision on the laptop to the latest version from NEC's website.
