illegal operation everytime i try to use the internet

on my other computer everytime you try to access anyhting internet related an illegal operation sign comes up and it closes...when i hooked the old dial up to it, it connected, but when i open the web browser it closes and nothing internet related can be accessed...does anyone know how to fix this?

What windows? I find Windows NT based operating systems don't seem to do that... Get Windows 2K or NT4 if it's older...and if your crazy run Windows XP!!!

Or maybe a good reformat? but I'm sure you thought of that...

ohh! run SFC from the run prompt and re-install explorer.exe ...That'll do it!!!
