Hmm evil blue screen

alright heres the scoop my comp is down sadly and it wont load up windows or even safe mode so i want to format my disk or reinstall xp see if that works but the disk wont showl up since i have a os installed and i cant bring it up... o and i guess i should tell u it trys to come up but i either get the evil blue screen or it restarts ne ways, so what im asking is how do i reformat or even format a hd without actually going into a os or even going into safe mode if i have xp installed on the disk?? please help

try booting to the XP CD and in the SECOND DOS promt screen try this command
"CHKDSK /R" that an emergency recovery command. IF you HDD is not seen then you have to go into BIOS and make sure that the HDD is being detected. if not, you drive or the IDE cable may be bad.
