boot failure,using xp disc

please help me i can not boot my friends system ,even if i use the windows Xp disk it gives an error
"disk boot failure,insert system disk and press enter"
to get here i,had a hdd with xp & red hat on 2 partitions,i couldnt remove the linux so asked my friends comp,used disk wizard to format (it warned me not to continue cause i'd have this problem)my hard drive and removed it from my friends system,but i could not boot my friends comp and mine is fine.
i feel so bad
system info:
custom built
western digital HDD
samsung dvd
award bios(motherboard)

You need to ensure that the computer is using the CD to boot. Also, if the CD is messed up, well, you need to find another one.
