sfc/scannow messed up my graphics

Expand Post »
I worked through the tips to tweak my XP and its messed up my graphics; I ran 'sfc / scannow' to correct any .dll's etc using my XP SP2 disk.
I run a 19" widescreen monitor and use 1440 x900 resolution, I can only see 1280 x 1024 and 1400 x 1050 in the screen properties. I can not update the driver.

I am running onboard graphics Nvidia Geforce 6100. I have tried download the nvidia driver software and it loads to correct my problem, however it does not save after a reboot.

Any suggestions? Also on a seperate issue, when I try updating SP3 I always get cut out half way through the update, anyone else seeing this?

thx

Re: sfc/scannow messed up my graphics

I managed to solve the graphic issue by updating all the microsoft patches and installing nvidia driver software.

for the sp3 problem .download it direct and then run the install from where you save the file to.
