URGH THE LAST PROBLEM I NEED >>> MOUSE TROUBLE

Ok hi guys. Gosh...... on top of other problems w/ my computer...... the last i need is stupid mouse trouble..... here we go. For some random reason, when I'm using the computer, my mouse will just sorta shut off. I have an optical mosue that came with my computer and like, every 5 minutes, the light will go off on the mouse and it'll just shut off and not work. Any ideas? Thanks!

P.S. - I have a Dell Inspiron 9100 about 5 months old and im running Windows XP Pro Sp2.

its broke maybe ,have you tried another mouse,quickest troubleshooting to try in this case .
