XP - Unable to edit DNS setting

Expand Post »
I have an XP client PC; IP config is set for DHCP, but DNS is set at Manual, and has a value entered. This value is not correct. All attempts to edit back to DHCP has failed. It just keeps going back to this static entry. I have deleted the value, selected the Auto option, I have uninstalled IP, I have uninstalled several applications which could be setting this DNS value, but have so far failed to delete this unwanted DNS value.

Any advice? My last resort is to rebuild the PC, I would rather not....

Thanks
Richard

Re: XP - Unable to edit DNS setting

Uninstall the NIC, reboot the computer, reinstall the NIC and create a new network connection with your settings.
