Recently I tried to open my PC with Windows XP Home Edition and I got the above message saying it was corrupted. I tried to reinstall the OS and it would not work. I have stuff on there I do not want to lose so reformatting is out, for now. Any advice or cure? I am not a PC Geek but I can read and push buttons.

THanks for the response, unfortunately I cannot get the OS to open. How can I download from a flashdrive if the PC is unable to recognize it? Is there any way to go straight to DOS?

HAve you tried using "recovery console"? When you boot from the XP disc the first option screen askes if you want to repair using it. If you can get into there you can copy the file from the disc.

Hope this helps
