Palm Sync Error

I've got a user with a Palm Zire 31 who gets the following error when he tries to do a sync with Outlook 2007:

OK Backup

HotSync operation completed on 11/17/08 16:10:36

The system is Windows XP Pro, SP2 with all the latest updates installed (as of 20 minutes ago). Office 2007, SP1 with the latest updates installed (also as of 20 minutes ago).

We've got the Palm Outlook 2007 Conduit installed as well. The Palm Desktop software is 4.1.4. This is a relatively new system for the user but this sync'ing problem seems to have started last week. We're sync'ing via the USB cable.

I've gone through pages of Google search results. We've:

o Uninstalled/reinstalled the Palm desktop software
o Uninstalled/reinstalled the Outlook 2007 sync conduit
o Changed recurring appointments that didn't have an end-date to have one
o Archived calendar items older than Jan 1, 2008
o Set the Hotsync so the desktop overwrites the handheld
o Gone through most of Palm's 31167 solution - which mostly seems like a Hail-Mary type of pass.
o Started Outlook with the "/resetfolders" switch (ie: outlook.exe /resetfolders)
o Tried Outlooks Office Diagnostics

All to no avail.

I've seen several posts about installing something like Chapura's Pocket Sync but we're trying to find a solution that doesn't involve installing more software. We figure this is happening on only 1 system right now but chances are good we'll see it on more systems.

I'm open to suggestions....

Thanks,

Larry
