Machine_Check_Exception in wmp HELLP!

Hi all
Totally new to this forum and not sure if anyone can help but here goes.
When I am attempting to copy a CD to my hardrive using Windows Media Player (windows xp) occasionally my computer gives me the fatal blue screen (and the message System_Check_Exception. From what I can gather this could be any one of many hardware faults but I do not have a clue how to begin to diagnose what part of my computer is at fault. Any advice would be appreciated- my music collection depends on it!
Thanks in advance
Mel

Hi Welcome to DaniWeb .
don't have a fix for you problem I don't use WMP to rip music, but have beenusing Audiograbber since 1997,with out any problems .You might try it,to see if you get the same error ,
You can rip them to wave or mp3 file .its a free program now .
