Re: Unable to load windows update page

I have security set to default levels. I do not see anything at the top showing blocked. I do not know if I have active x blocked. How do I check that?? By the way, thank you...

Re: Unable to load windows update page

Checked the active x and changed them to allow. I went to the first 2 sites listed and got a blank page again. The next three went to windows update with the screen checking for latest updates, an error message from IE Security popped up with IE has found a problem, "iuctl.cab?38375.4729513889" I clicked OK and sat waiting for the updates that never arrived... Any thoughts?

Re: Unable to load windows update page

This problem could occur because of Spyware , go on over to the Security section of this fourm and post you problem along with a hijackthis log .
Spyware & Trojans and Other Nasties
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Please Don't post the hijackthis log in this section Thanks .
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Please do this.
Download 'Hijack This!'. HijackThis
Save it in a convenient permanent folder such as C:\HJT\, double click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

Your copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. When HJT fixes anything, it makes backups of the original files in the folder it is in. Since Temporary folders are emptied now and then (the files are DELETED), it would not be a good idea to have your backups there. Those backups would be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

1. Please go to you're 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' then name the folder 'HJT'.

2. Copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

3. Close ALL windows except HJT

4. SCAN with HJT

5. POST the new log in this thread using 'Add Reply'

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS SOME OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO YOUR COMPUTER'S HEALTH

Re: Unable to load windows update page

I am having the EXACT same problem as bass1056. I got the same error, same number of 3 out of 5 sites came up. I too have been having a lot of problems with Active X. I have ran the HijackThis.exe and below is the log.

As well I am having problems with my java script. Things like 'Compose' in yahoo mail does not bring up the compose page or the check box in yahoo mail that is supposed to check all doesn't work.

Any thoughts?

Re: Unable to load windows update page

Please do not post HijackThis logs anywhere except in the 'Viruses and nasties' forum section. They will NOT be looked at elsewhere.

Also, see if any of the suggestions in this article about Windows Update problems proves useful.
