problem in opening microsoft internet explorer

when i open Internet explorer the bottom of the screen where the graft to show the completion level is ( is flickering and will not stop)
help

just a guess, but i think perhaps something has gotten integrated into the browser. You can check to see what's been installed into the browser by searching through the registry.
