I recently received a computer from a friend. It is pretty fast and had been used as a server in a dental office. However, there is no sound at all.

It is a dual core Pentium 4 system running XP Pro.

When it was initially started up, there was a SoundMax inc0n in the systray. Still there was no sound nor any multimedia audio controller.

Please offer a suggestion.
