Hang Time

Expand Post »
I have a computer that hangs for about 10 - 15 seconds between the POST and when the Windows loading screen appears. I've tried changing settings in the bios but that didn't work. Anyone got any suggestions? Mobo- M861G, HDD- WD 320Gb, RAM- 2Gb, Cpu- AMD3000+

Re: Hang Time

What boot devices do you have?

It's not trying to boot from the network is it?

Re: Hang Time

Not sure. How can I tell if it is? And where do I go to change the settings, I didn't see anything in the BIOS settings for it. Besides it was a fresh install on a new HDD. It's set to boot from the HDD only, all other boot devices were disabled in the BIOS.

Re: Hang Time

Seems like you've got that one covered then - if it's the thing which goes through options like "a:" "c:" "cdrom" etc.

Another idea perhaps.
If you've still got IDE disks, make sure any slots where you know you don't have anything plugged into them are set to "disable" and not "auto-detect".
