Bad Lag in Online games XP problom?

winXP Home
56k Connected at 52bps
off Earthlink ISP

p4 3.2 1gig ram radeon 9800 video
and no clue why i constantly ping 999 in most online FPS games...
i dont lag in MMORPG's just FPS games mostly "first person shooter" i didnt used to ping so high. maybe around 150-200ish tops.

i think perhaps i may have stuff on my computer causeing my transfer rate to bog down but no clue how to find out or get rid of it on win XP.

to be honest i have no clue,

also remember the servers distance from you will also effect your ping times

try download.com and search for cablenut download it

open the tweak settings for your OS / 56k (2000 56k i belive)

thats such a nice computer, having 56k almost makes it a joke :(
