Visitors from other domains

Expand Post »
nt4.0 administrator here.....

When we have visitors from another city (domain) come in we have to always configure a lmhost file or type the IP address in outlook instead of the name of there exchange server. We have the appropriate trusts with all other domains and sometimes their email works despite the ip address entrys but eventually and in most cases we have to do the entry. I always knew this was a problem with NT but wanted others stories about this topic.

Anyways, my question is:

1. What happening with windows that causes this problem. Whats the shortcomings?

2. How do you administrators combat it?

3. Will this problem cease to exsist with W2k & w2k3
