Missing Installation Screens

Expand Post »
Hi, I’m running XP Pro SP2 and have recently reinstalled it and most of the programs I wanted to reinstall went back in OK and I thought everything was fine. Then I decided that I’d install an old copy of Bryce 5 that I had zipped on my hard drive. It unzipped OK but when I clicked on setup nothing seemed to happen , I kept trying for a while and gave up. However when I shut down and the desktop started to disappear there was the installation screen for Byrce which I just got a glimpse of before shutdown completed. The same thing happened again when next I tried. Then I wanted to put my Canon Scanner drivers in and clicked on setup and again nothing seemed to happen and when I shutdown there it was just a glimpse of the setup screen visible only for a brief second before shutdown completed. Otherwise both installation screens are not visible anywhere.Has anybody any idea what to do about this .Ive tried several forums but nobody seems to have any clues. The only suggestions Iv'e had so far are to turn off Firewall and /or Virus Scanner when trying to install which I've tried with no success.
