I've just installed Win XP pro, clean install - the problem is the computer will not shut down. When I click Shut Down, the lights on the tower will flicker a bit, might get a hourglass which then returns to a pointer, but I do not leave the desktop. Everything is still functional. The same thing happens with Restart. I can go into the Sleep Mode though.
I've checked the Power Management settings - there is no APM selection, it isn't available in the BIOS either.
Am at a loss
SIS630 board, 192 mbs RAM
Any help is desparately appreciated! :)

I aint now trained computer tech, but i have learned a lot by reading and doing things for others and I have built a few computers and repaired a few ,and have never come across a computer that didn't have APM either in windows or in the bios !! I think it has to be one or the other .do you know what motherboard is in your computer .
