Reply With history ..Hmm..interesting. Lotus Notes problem

hello! if anyone can assist me or direct me in the correct direction that would be great! And thank you in advance.

My situation is::

O/S = Windows XP sp 2 on laptop IBM T41 or T23 or T42
Application Lotus Notes version 5
Problem::
When a user has an email opened and he clicks on "Reply with History" the new memo doesn't copy over the 'history' (the body of the email) instead just creates a new memo that is blank, as if he just clicked on Reply.

The only time that it works is when he clicks "Reply with hisotry" on an email that has a file attached to it.

has anyone here seen this type of problem and knows the fix? i have checked google to no avail.
the issue started about a week or so ago...it used to work fine.
