computer will not boot up, hard drive light stays on

Expand Post »
Hello,

I have had this problem occuring to me for the last week. I go to turn on my cpmputer like normal (hit power button, etc) and it will not boot. The hard drive light stays on, but it does not even get to the initial screen, the monitor stays off. However this does not always happen, if I cut the power, then try it again (sometimes it takes about 10 tries) it will sometimes boot like normal. Any ideas on this?

AMD 1800
windows xp pro

Thanks for any clues on this.

Josh
