Says it all really, I have stupidly forgotten the Administrator password for one of my laptops. Any suggestions or am I looking at a reinstallation.

To be honest I don't even remember setting one.

Thanks in advance.

You could always use bartpe

Takes about 10 minutes to complete the entire build process. Enusre you build a bootable ISO and you can install the operating system "live" Loads the operating system into memory and does not touch the local HDD's.

build your own custom version, make sure you include the latest version of Windows Password Renew 1.0-RC2 for WinPE.

http://www.sala.pri.ee#pass

"Password Renew lets the user change the password of the local Administrator account or create a new admin level user with a password of their choice. This is a great tool for getting into Windows boxes you don’t have an admin password for"

This tool must be used wisley.

Forgetting a password Admin or otherwise is never a major problem.

HI GUYS!!!
I ALSO FORGOT THE ADMINISTATOR PASSWORD TO MY DELL D600 LATITUDE. I Cannot Even Enter The Boot Setup F2 Or F12 Buttons, It Still Asks For An Administrator Password. What Do I Have To Do? THE PASSWORD IS ON THE LAPTOP ITSELF AND NOT ON THE WINDOWS.

DJSILVERMAN, there is not an easy fix for you.

The best way to fix your problem is to contact Dell tech support. You will have to prove that you purchased the machine for them to help you. If you bought it from someone else, you may have to do a transfer of ownership. Their support can provide you with the master password for your machine based upon the Service Tag on the machine.

An alternate solution is that I have a piece of software that may allow me to find that password for you. Can you tell me what your service tag is (make sure you tell me the complete service tag)?

simply just make yourself a new one....

you are gona need austrum

upon boot up enter.
nt_pass

select the partion windows is on... prolly boot. so 1
next it will ask to select the path to windows registery...
what it says in brakets is usally right... if it is... just hit enter... if not... fix it

press 1 - Password Reset

press 1 - edit user data and passwords
it will prompt for an account to edit... enter one.
hit * for blank password and then hit enter.
hit [y] to save changes
use ! to quit menu
use q to quit.
y to write the files back!

press ctrl+alt+delete... and reboot, take live cd out... leave pw blank... login! change password...

good luck.

the service tag is 6TSYW31. I took the laptop apart, disconnecting the CMOS battery hoping that it erase the temporary password, i stripped the laptop to the bone, sitting with only the mainboard any nothing else but it in my hands. After assemling the whole thing, pushed the on button, same thing. I have the option of pressing F1 and F12 but if i do, it askes for an administrative password. That is why i thought it would be on the CMOS. I did not find any jumpers or dip switches to reset that.
please help.

i cannot enter anything right after i press the on button. Not even F1, F2 or F12. If i press any of these, it askes for a password. The password is on the BIOS, at least thats what i think, so.... I tried disconncting the CMOS battery, still doesnt work.

dude, please create your own thread... this is no way releated to the Orig post.
any way, here is some tools that maybeale to asssist you.

i sent you the service tag. were you able to get it, do you think there is something that can be done?

Greetings,

I suppose you using Active@ password changer utility to reset your lost password. That worked for me really great before, it is a small and really easy to use tool that never failed.

DJSILVERMAN,

I will state this a little more clearly:

CREATE YOUR OWN THREAD.

Your initial issue has nothing to do with the one in this thread. Don't post any more information about your system in this thread-- no one can help you with this. If you really own the system, and you can verify ownership, contact Dell Technical support, and they might be able to help you out. Otherwise, your laptop is useless.

I don't care what you disassemble on those systems, that's not going to take out the password. It's not something as easy to remove as a desktop's BIOS password-- they're not kept in CMOS.

it wont work, the password is on the BIOS, and the laptop wont boot pass that stage, i need to enter the password before it can boot. i tried disconnecting the CMOS battery, but i guess DELL HAS A WAY OF HIDING THINGS.

Says it all really, I have stupidly forgotten the Administrator password for one of my laptops. Any suggestions or am I looking at a reinstallation.

To be honest I don't even remember setting one.

Thanks in advance.
