?Password+Protection of External HDD?

Is there a way i can make it so that someone has to enter a password before they can access my external harddrive?? if you know a way...please give instructions....i'll try all the ideas i get and pick the one that works the best. Thankx :-)

USB Flash devices have some encryption utilities that allow you to make hidden artions without a password.

my bad....i should have been more clear on the details.....my external is a 80GB Harddrive......if that makes a difference.

should not make a diff at all... the drive protection will be sofwtare based.
