Monitor help (Sorry if this is the wrong forum)

Hey there everyone. First post. Hope you can help.

Freind of mine recently moved. When she went to hook up the computer, she turned the monitor on, and got a black screen. The green light on front indicated that it "SHOULD" be on, but, alas ... it wasn't. So, i told her to hook up another monitor. She got her sisters monitor, hooked it up ... and, you guessed it. Nothing!

So, i asked her the simple questions first.

1. Did you plug the monitor in? Yes.
2. Did you plug the monitor into the computer? Yes.

I guess, i'm lost. Anyone have anymore ideas?

Dennis
(Thanks in advance, my friends.)

Do you get any video at all, like before Windows loads? Can you try hitting the F8 key as the system boots?

Maybe the video modes are set too high-- try booting into Safe Mode after hitting F8, or try VGA mode. From there, you should probably consider removing and then reinstalling the video card drivers.
