I have noticed that when looking at my processes directly after boot, I see NetTsk.exe. I can't seem to get any results when searching Yahoo for this process, however, all of the others return results.

I have scanned with Ad Ware, Spybot, Registry Mechanic and various "online" scans. Nothing shows anything negative, however when I don't end this process it jacks my CPU usage up into the 90's and lags my system badly.

If someone could please explain exactly what NetTsk.exe is, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

First please get Spybot S&D to clear out most of the spyware.

Short tutorial and download link here:
http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/

Fix everything SpybotSD labels in red.

Then after reboot:
Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
Unzip to a permanent folder, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.
then post the log here

Thanks for the reply Caper. Below is a copy of the log file.

I think you should add this to your signature. ;)

Hint: Harden IE and you would not be this situation.

I think you should add this to your signature. ;)

It is something I tell people to do as you can see from the first post i made .

After following links in your sig, I went to Trend and did a scan.

If you ran the virus scan after the hijack log was created please run hijak and post a new log .yhanks
Also you have hijackthis.exe in E:\ hijack, is E a second harddrive .

I think you should add this to your signature. ;)

I agee ,thanks for those who use the programs in my sig, without asking questions first ,Done

Caper - The links in your sig are great, glad you have them there.

I have tried many things to try and figure out what the problem is. (as you will be able to tell by the log file.)

XClean shows everything fine at this point, as does Spybot and PC Cillin. *I removed my Norton's today to check out the PC Cillin*

I am still unable to find out exactly what NetTsk.exe is. However leaving the process running cause's severe system lag and has high CPU Usage.

All the files I have tried to delete (through Add/Remove or the dir - Im not confortable with editing the registry) seem to remain. Two examples:

When I run Ad Aware (3 times already in this sitting) I always get the following:

 • ArchiveData(auto-quarantine- 11-02-2004 05-18-09.bckp)

Also, what is your opinion of the tilde in process names? (LUCOMS~1.exe for example - searching tells me this one is AV live update check)

Thanks for the help! :)

Forgot to mention that the first time I ran XClean it found BigBrother (as well as 6 other items) on my computer. I don't recall adding BigBrother.

Also, when shutting down for a reboot I always get a run32dll error - any idea's?

Sheesh, after re-reading this thread I wonder if a format is in order.

Using the Hijackthis Misc Tools, I generated a start up list. Not sure what it means exactly or if posting it would help, but I thought it may provide important information.
