Wrong keyboard driver - can't boot up

Expand Post »
Because of an error message yesterday, I decided to update the keyboard driver on my Dell Inspiron 4000 which is running Windows 2000 Professional. Now I can't get my PC to boot pass the Dell logo screen. It stops and I get a blue screen (not the blue screen of death, but that blue that comes up during the boot process). I can't get pass this.

I have tried to boot in safe mode and last known good configuration and that hasn't worked. The PC loads the keyboard drivers, which obviously don't work with my laptop.

I've booted from CD (Windows 2000 Pro) and can get into the DOS directory, but don't know what to change. (My thought is to delete the bad driver.)

My thought is also that if I can boot up once all the way, I can install (reinstall) the correct driver.

I do not have a recovery disk.

Can anybody give me advise? I've searched the Microsoft, Dell, etc. web site and have found very little to help me.

Thanks!
