B4 I blow up my win 2000- it's slow to respond

Hi Techies,
My win 2000 sp4 1.6 512MB 40GB machine is slow to respond.

I have done every tweak available. when I click a menu it takes awhile to respond.

any help appriciated

have you run spybot and ad-aware, and is your AV up to date??
