how to remove the system volume icon from taskbar

after installin msn messenger i now have the system volume icon on my taskbar eny help with removing it would be appreciated.......

Right Click on the toolbar goto properties then at the bottom of that menu next to "hide inactive icons" click customize then find volume, select it, use the pull down menu and select "always hide"

or if u have win98 Win98Removal

hi steosaur.what you are talking about is hiding a inactive icon what i was asking about was removing the icon from the taskbar.and to do it.i right clicked the icon properties uncheck put icon on taskbar.but thanks for the reply........i just got lucky by playing around with it........

Go into the Control Panel and then to Sounds and Audio Devices. Then uncheck the box "Place volume icon in the taskbar"
