Xp usb hp

Hello,

My computer wont shut down when I have my Printer (hp officejet d135) plugged into my USB 2.0 Hub. Ive plugged and unplugged the other 2 devices and they dont create the same problem.

NEWSFLASH!

I just was able to shut down my computer with the printer plugged in but the lights for the hard drive, CD/RW and CD all stayed on. I couldnt restart the computer using the on/off switch. I unplugged the printer and the lights went off but I was unable to start the computer without turning off the power switch on the rear of the unit. After turning the rear power switch off and on again then I was able to use the on/off switch on the front of the computer to start it again. I tried this a few times to verify that it worked the same way each time.

I plugged the printer into the hub after start-up and it prints OK. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks.

I have found that certain drivers, especially those forSiS and VIA can cause wierd interactions with some USB hardware. Make sure your drivers are up-to-date. The VIA Hyperion 4-in-1 drivers are here , for the SiS drivers, start here .

Remember, too that the OfficeJet D135 has fax capabilities. There may be some configuration option in the BIOS or on the printer that's holding the system "on" to receive a fax (just a thought).

If you don't know the type of chipset your system has, give us a brand and model or motherboard brand and model and we can help identify it.
