bunny,

If you have many errors, it is best to save the data you need on a CD, Floppy, or another computer then format (erase) your hard drive. Then you can re-install windows and all of your hardware, and the data you saved from your old computer. Does this sound like something you would like to do?

Don't you dare put Norton on there...lol. Norton is a huge resouce hog, get AVG FREE, it is a free program. Below is a list of free programs that I recommend.

I only list here, the programs that I have used and I’m satisfied with, I know there are other great programs, but these are just the ones that I use, and can verify, as being worthy.

I would also recommend you first clean your hard drive from viruses and then reinstall windows... if you dont want to take headache to scan your hard drive for viruses and malware ... just backup your data to another source other than the hard drive and repartition.

I told you not to get Norton...lol. You may have a virus that won't allow it to install.

You may also want to scan you hard drive for errors. Go to My Computer, R-click on the C: drive, and select properties, then select tools tab, and select error checking.

So you could first scan with the online virus scanner (panda preferably) and then install nav 2006 afterwards.

Have you checked msconfig? If not go to start - run - msconfig and then the startup tab and disable anything you don't know.

You could try burning those files to a CD. Small size (20-40 gig) hard drives are pretty cheap, maybe you could buy one, and install your windows on there, then slave your old hard drive to it, copy your data to the new drive, and wipe the old hard drive, to use as storage and backup. I guess it depends on how much those files mean to you.

If you are using XP, try and download Ewido and scan your computer with it.

You can download a trial version of Ewido here: http://www.ewido.net/en/

Be sure you update it before using it, and when it finds a problem, be sure to select the check box to do the same action (clean) when it finds a problem, otherwise, you will have to click continue, to keep scanning with every problem it finds.
