Installing Windows XP updates after a reinstall
I've just returned an old laptop to its factory state with reinstall disks and have Windows XP Home installed but I can't find a way to update Windows at least to SP2. I have Automatic Updates ticked under System but it is not downloading anything. Can anyone help or provide me with the right URL to get the laptop into the updates system? If it helps I have a separate Windows XP disk with SP2 integral to the install but I doubt using that to "repair" Windows would introduce the updates.

or you could try to update from IE instead. You may need to run from IE just once and the rest of the updates will run automatically...
To update from IE, open IE, click on Help and select Check for updates...

Thanks Jingda. I actually tried manually installing SP2 and that sorted things out.
