Add/Remove programs gone

I had a corrupt registry that kept giving me a blue screen every time I started up my computer which gave me:

Stop: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate

So I didn't know what to do so I brought it to the tech guys on campus to fix it. Well they repaired the registry but they left me the task of putting my account back and now that I have, some of my programs are still there, some of them don't open anymore, and everything that used to be on add/remove programs is gone, it was blank until i started reinstalling some of the programs that wouldn't work. So is there any way I can fix this or do I have to reinstall some of the programs I had?

Yes I believe the guys in campus executed only part one of this Microsoft article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q307545&ID=KB;EN-US;Q307545

Now you need to complete the fix by completing the System Restore whith the rest of the steps.
