component transfer error

Howdy,

First of all, just let me say i really don't know much about computer systems so you will need to bear with me.....i have recently tried to install the program Pinnacle studio 9 onto my computar. While installing disc 1, a dialog box appeared reading " component transfer error" with details:

Component: guided tour
File group multimedia tutorial
File: E:\setup..tutorial\supportfiles\creatingmenus.swf
Error: Data error ( cyclic redundancy check )

Does anyone have any idea what this means?

When i click on O.K it automatically uninstalls the program.

I am running Windows XP professional 2002, service pack 2
Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.80 GHz
1.82 GHz, 256 MB of Ram

Pioneer DVD-RW DVR -109

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks........

Here's what Pinnacle's Knowledge Base suggests:

Pinnacle has not reproduced the problem but has gotten customer feedback on how to

work around this issue. The issue is caused by a previous version of InstallShield conflicting

with our installer.

More information can be found at the InstallShield web site:

http://support.installshield.com/kb/view.asp?articleid=q110768

To avoid the error,

1. please locate the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional

2. Rename folder Professional to Pro. Some customer may prefer to delete the folder

instead, if their computer no longer uses the folder.

3. Install Studio 9 and the error will no longer appear.

Hope that works for you.

I have a similar problem on a USB TV box that isn't helped by removing this folder.
Any ideas? Win XP SP3 Looks like a corrupt dll at first glance. Only thing missing is sound, as app actually has worked and still has video. All I get now is a hiss on sound.

Update- though I got notification of a reply to this I found nothing here.
The TV module is working now. I never solved the original problem but re- installing the nVidia Drivers WDM_1.08.exe as well as card drivers seemed evntually to bear fruit. I did get a reply from the makers - which after 6 years item 'out of production' was not bad!
