File extension: How to display in Hexadecimal?

Expand Post »
Hello there!

I think I have a very simple problem (for the comunity here).
I want to recover lost data from a HDD. This has worked quite well until now but now I´m searching for a file type my recovery software does´nt know. So I have to enter this as the "normal" file extension aswell as in hexadecimal and I don´t know how to get this hexadecimal thing.
(Sorry, I have to improve my english!)

The file extension is .lso (for Logic Audio Song).
So my question is:

How does ".lso" look like in hexadecimal?

If you have any idea about this issue I would be very glad to get a hint from you.
Thank you!

Re: File extension: How to display in Hexadecimal?

Hey think this is a simple one you need to use an ascii table to convert from hex to ascii and vice versa http://centricle.com/tools/ascii-hex/ this site does it well but you need to make sure you put the capatials letters in correctly as this can affect the resulting codes. with .Iso written like that the hex codes are 2e 49 73 6f.

Hi Chris!

Thank you for your reply!
I followed the link you mentioned but I get different results than the one you´ve written...?!

It says: 2e 6c 73 6f
and in capital letters: 2e 4c 53 4f
?????

But that does´nt matter, first I´m going to try out the code you found out, see what happens.
I´m going to write as soon as I´ve got some news.

Thank you very much so far!

Regards,

Toddy
