Looking for Modem test software.

I have a OEM US ROBOTICS modem card
that may mis-labeled or not working correctly !!!
I have downloaded many driver software packages for this modem.
None of drivers work !!!
Windows 98 does detect this modem.
Is there some software that can test the modem without a modem driver installed ?

Install the generic 28k modem driver and use the modem icon in the control panel to query the modem. It is probably a 'stripped' down version for gateway and you are better off trashing it and buying anew one. Walmart 29.95 for a USR WinModem.
