Outlook XP COMPACTING E MAIL

I try to COMPACT my e mail & I cannot..., Upon hitting Compact, I can not do it.,

I get a greeen graphic like when you are loading page & it wont compact..


Does anyone know a way or program to work through this...I am under the assumption that outlook is a PART OF xp....so I dont know where to go from here?

Your Outlook data file might be too big. Delete any large mail and unnecessary mail and try again. You can also verify the size of your Inbox by right clicking the folder and going to properties.

NO there are only 3 in the inbox in properties. THERE are no LARGE files!

so why compact them ,maybe won't because its not enough to compact
