the 2 little computers do not show on the taskbar, connection issue

hi i'm new!........i have a (nother!) problem with my windows xp when i click the "two computers" (mine is freeserve) icon on the desktop the dialler box does not show! (first problem), so i click on "internet explorer" and get it up that way but then when it connects it doesn't show on the taskbar like it should so when i want to disconnect a have to pull the line out of the wall!....what is this all about?!....i would be so greatful if someone could help....sorry that i don't know much techtalk!....love sophie.xxxx

open conection setings-->right click on our network connection--> properties-->show icon on desktop---> is it there....

Click the start button then connect to
right click on freeserve now click properties
:cool: tick the box show icon in notification area when connected.
