can't login to user account using safe mode

Expand Post »
Hi,
I'm having difficulty signing into my user account or the admin. acct. in safe mode. I wanted to try and do a virus and spyware scan in safe mode to rid any problems that couldn't be detected in regular windows mode. So, I press F8, select safe mode and safe mode loads the user selection screen as expected. The problem occurs when windows now tries to load any of the available users while in this mode. After clicking to load a user I get the normal message that says "you're now in safe mode, to continue to stay in safe mode click Yes..." backed by a black screen that says safe mode in all four corners of my monitor. So I click Yes and the message goes away but the black screen remains and my desktop will not load. Does anyboy have a solution that will get safe mode working back to normal?

Thanks
