disabling aol dial-up sound

Expand Post »
I have AOL 9.0. An earlier version lets you go to Control Panel and click on Modems to disable the dialing sound AOL makes when you're going onto the web. I don't need to announce to everyone in the house every time I want to go to Rachel's Juke Joint, or something. But I can't see where to click in Control Panel of 9.0, to disable that sound. Anyone done this?

Re: disabling aol dial-up sound

U should be able to disable it via windows control panel before you logon to AOL:
  1. Go into Network and Internet Connections in your Control Panel.
  2. Right-click your network connection (modem) icon.
  3. Choose Properties.
  4. Click the Configure button.
  5. Disable the modem sound
