I've gone through many posts and many websites trying to get rid of this thing to no avail. Well, I think I got some of it, but not all, or else I have some other little nasties floating around in my pc. Would someone be so kind enough to look at my HJT Log and see if there is something I need to delete? Could someone also tell me what these 4 files are used for:

NTUSER DAT
ntuserdat LOG
NTUSER DAT_BAK_94368
NTUSER DAT_TU_94368 LOG

I've tried to view them, but it says they are being used by another program, excepth the LOG file. I open that one and it's just blank. They are located in
C:\Documents and Settings\MY USER NAME HERE

Thank you, Mary

Re: W32irc Bot

Your log looks very clean to me. The files you mentioned are normal and all 2000/2003/XP users have them. As far I know, these are the places where the different registry hives for each user are stored. The only way to look into them is regedit.exe.

Re: W32irc Bot

I know there is still something running in the background somewhere. After Start Up, my wallpaper loads and looks fine, then it disappears and reappears, but then it has jagged edges. Something is loading that is affecting my wallpaper. As for those other files, I hadn't really noticed them before in my Documents and Settings. Would they be safe to delete if possible? Any suggestions on my wallpaper problem? The wallpaper looks fine if I view it in my wallpaper folder or with any other program. All my wallpapers have that jagged appearence now, where they hadn't before.
Thank you, Mary

Re: W32irc Bot

Please download and run these tools:
Blacklight
https://europe.f-secure.com/blacklight/try.shtml
RootkitRevealer
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilitie...tRevealer.html
Post the logs of both here.

But it is possible that it's only software that interfered with each other: I see quite a few programs in your log that tweak or enhance the desktop and running more than one tool of a similar kind can always have bad sideeffects. Have you tried deactivating TuneUp Winstyler?

Re: W32irc Bot

I don't have TuneUp set to run on Start Up. I might have had it running when I ran HJT, though. I've been trying soooo many different tools to clean everything. I just don't know what else to do.

Re: W32irc Bot

Uninstall Icon packager and window blinds, they are loaded on startup no matter if you are using a theme or not. If that doesnt help, remove AVEDESK, are you even using the widgets(desklets)? These are all going to have an effect on the windows gui dramatically. Uninstall them one at a time so you can pinpoint which of the three is causing your problem.

Re: W32irc Bot

OK, I finally found the problem...at least part of it. It is when Windows Explorer starts that my wallpaper changes. I don't know if it is because of some leftovers of the W32 IRC bot virus I had that affected Explorer or because of one of the recent Window Updates that were installed. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Mary
