Windows Media Player 9

Expand Post »
I just installed SP4 and 72 other updates on my laptop (I'd fallen behind). I'm running WIN 2000. Now, alas, I have a couple of problems: WMP won't play any of my mp3 files, and there is actually no sound whatsoever from anything I try to play. HOWEVER, the sound works fine on Limewire and Roxio.

Okay, from there I can assume there is a problem with Windows media player, which in itself wouldn't be a tragedy. HOWEVER, I downloaded some music and burned a cd on Roxio, and that reads in my home stereo and everywhere else like the tracks are there, but it won't produce any sound. (Yes, it's finalized)

That part is vexing me. I could live with scrubbing WMP and using another system to play media on my computer, but what happened to the communication between my files and my burner?

Ugh..please help!
