Application Error 0x00000024

I get an application error WINOLDAP caused an illegal instruction fault in WINOLDAP.MOD at 0x00000024
I am also getting this for another game application and also when I tried to install a new anti-virus software - cannot install because of this.
I have read through the solution on the MSN page and had done a Check disk but does not help anything.

Can someone please help. thanks.

WINOLDAP means Windows Old Application. I think that some old application is making some illegal instruction somewhere. I don't know if XP has an event viewer, but it should be in c:\windows\system32\eventvwr.msc
If you dubble-click on that and tell us what the most recent error reports are (a red round with a cross in it). In the application log it should be most likely.

- HKMJW.EXE is the executable for the game "Hong Kong Mahjong". Is that the games you're talking about.

- easyclea.exe is the executable for ToniArts' EasyCleaner utility.

- fyjh.exe looks very suspicious to me. The filename looks like one of those random names that trojans or spyware would use. Any idea what that file is associated with? If not, I'd give your system a through scanning with anti-virus and anti-spyware utilities.

- Have you tried an unistall / reinstall of Majhong and EasyCleaner?

Yes, we have been on this nearly every day until the Application error came on.

Yes, was reading some of the threads and thought this is quite good so download

No idea what this file is. I have scan through the system and also use Ad-Aware - got a few bugs and quarantined but this still comes up.

- Have you tried an unistall / reinstall of Majhong and EasyCleaner?
Yes, I have tried doing this for the Mahjong but it does not work, still the same application error. For EasyCleaner, I clicked on ignore button and managed to install it now.

Any help please.

I maybe found an article on your problem with the Msvcrt.dll file. Is it correct that you've installed visual studio?
I do not recommend the download of Msvcrt.dll, without knowing the version, but I think you need a new one.

With the game, have you been trying to download the update on which resolution you are currently working? 800x600 1024x768 1280x1024?
Maybe that will fix it.
