I keep getting popups titled windows messenger service

Expand Post »
HI. I keep getting popups that have "windows messenger service" in the title and they adveritise anything from porn to spyware removal to discount drugs. This is really annoying and I can't seem to get rid of it. I have run spybot, adaware, a trojan horse program, hijackthis and AVG virus protection. Please help I really don't want to have to format the hard drive and start all over again.

Re: I keep getting popups titled windows messenger service

Go to the control panel and open up Administrative tools. Double click on "Services" and find "Messenger" Double click to view the properties. Go ahead and stop the service and choose "disabled" under the "startup type" drop down box. Click Apply.

This should stop those annoying messages.
