New Domain Controller

Expand Post »
Hi there - I'm about to be involved in replacing a domain controller in a site and would like some thoughts from people as to the process in case I have missed something.

The site currently has one server acting as domain controller. The intention is to replace it with a new domain controller while leaving it running as a member server.

So the plan currently is...
1. Backup old server
2. Join new server to domain.
3. DCPromo new server up to DC status.
4. Wait for AD to replicate.
5. DCPromo old server down to member server.

Is there anything obvious I have missed here?

Thx
