Keyboard Registry Corrupted

Expand Post »
I have 3 computers running XP SP2. 3 days ago, the keyboard on one died. Luckily I had an extra keyboard, installed it and now it is working. Yesterday, the keyboard on the second computer quit working. At first the mouse quit also, but in safe mode, the mouse will work. I went to troubleshooting in device manager and found the registry entry had been corrupted. I uninstalled the keyboard and let plug and play reinstall it. It still will not work. If I even touch the keyboard, it freezes the computer. Since I have had this problem on 2 computers in 3 days, I am guessing that an update to XP or a virus might be the problem even though my virus program says I'm clean. Any ideas on how I can fix this? I can't use the keyboard to edit the registry. Thanks.
